I went in Cambodia in 2016. This was my second trip to Angkor Wat, the antique Khmer capital.
We started the trip with a nutricious lunch with ants...
We then went to see Angkor Temple. It is design to represent Mount Meru and is literally huge. The best way to see in theory is early in the morning but the place is packed with people.
The Temple is as large as the pyramids as volume but you can go inside and is completely decorated with bas-relief.
You can see monkeys who are the real landlord.
And statues which in typical South East Asia style are dressed.
The lights in the corridors was very nice, I took few pics but have not been able to capture it as I wanted.
Outside the main central temple the complex of Siem Reap extends for tens of square kilometre and is full of statues, streets, waterways, etc.
The "Lara Croft" temple where part of the movie shots were taken is very nice! The entire area is covered by large ficus which are strangling the ruins and slowly crushing the human remains.
The other temples in the area would be extremely interesting to see if they were surrounded by such a magnificent place. They definitely deserve to be seen and appreciated but you tend to ignore them a little bit if you don't spend enough time in the area.
Outside, in the modern part of Siem Reap, you find a highly touristic but still charming area where you can eat outside on the street.
this is great ! these places will be my next stop!
I desire to visit Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos countries.
I guess you enjoyed visiting it!
I did enjoy indeed! I have been to Cambodia and Vietnam. Not to Laos yet but I will go soon.
Upvoted and following! So jealous! It's a dream of mine visiting Angkor Wat ;)

Ciao @ryanne, thank you very much! It is indeed a great place but I see on your blog that you also made wonderful trips! I want to go again to the Caribbean!!
This community is great for posting travel stories! I worked on a cruise ship that sailed through the Caribbean, but unfortunately, I wasn't able to visit a lot because I had to work like crazy :p But it's definitely a beautiful region!

Great photos again! Especially the nightlife ones! I just wonder what camera do you use :)? I'm personally into Fuji X cameras and these photos kind a remind me of the Fuji X sensor colours rendering.

Hi, @belgarath, I look at your picture and this is a great work. Some pictures will have a better impact when using some composition technics, at least the rules of third. But it looks great, thanks.
Thank you very much for the feedback!!
Wonderful shots, I would like to know more about the dish with ants though, I didn't know insects were part of their cuisine there!
Thank you very much!! I don't think it's very typical but more a tourist trap ;-) Nonetheless it has been fun and different!
