Buffalo Masten Avenue Armory
While traveling downtown to visit my friend @pierces550 I saw a pretty awesome tank and gun in front of a building and decided to stop and take a few photos. I enjoy learning the backstory behind the cool building and found the following from the Buffalo Masten Avenue Armory website.
History - Prior to this armory being built, the 65th Regiment occupied the Broadway Arsenal/Armory from 1858 - 1907. In 1931 a fire started in the basement of the Masten Avenue Armory. This not only destroyed the armory, it spread and destroyed a church and many nearby homes. It has been called one of the worst fires in the history of the city of Buffalo.A new armory was built on the foundation of the former armory in an art-deco style. During the time between the fire and completion of the new armory, the 106th Field Artillery unit stayed in the Brooklyn Auditorium, as well as, an abandoned automobile warehouse at 45 Jewett Avenue. Thank you @jlufer I enjoyed visiting this Buffalo landmark. It has a pretty cool history, so I learned a bit along the way. Taking photos is a lot of fun, but pairing them with learning about the subject makes it practical and engages me on a whole new level.
@papa-pepper prefers proper photos of pretty people...
(not really, I'm just drawn to alliteration)
Love it! Sometimes silly sentences seduce sweet souls swiftly spreading $ ;)
