Arača is a medieval Romanesque church located in Serbia. It is positioned between Novi Bečej and Novo Miloševo in the middle of nowhere. You can check all about it in a post i wrote 2 years ago Arača, 13 Century Church - Photo and Video Story. (i should re-upload video, as it was on Dtube and it is not working)
That middle of nowhere part got us to go on there yesterday. Thing is, nearest village got and upgrade in their lights so if you compare photos from 2 years ago and now, there is a lot more light pollution (and there were some low clouds so it did not help either).
Now the other part of why were we going there. Perseid Meteor Shower is associated with the comet Swift–Tuttle. The cloud consists of debris left by the comet as it travels on its 133-year orbit around the sun. You can watch Perseid meteor shower every year from mid July till mid August. Peak of it is between 9 and 14 August. In a area with low light pollution you can see 50 to 100 per hour. I never did, but i never been in the really really not light polluted area. Maybe next year.
So the first image is a compilation of what my camera managed to catch in around 600 photos. Some 200 of them were cloudy sky. So we were a bit unlucky as they say that most of meteors are visible after midnight and that was the time it started to be really cloudy. (click on the photos to get bigger resolution)
Photos are taken with Canon 80d and Sigma 18-35mm lens. 15 seconds exposures, F/2.5, ISO at 800, somewhere around half of it i went to check on the camera and bumped ISO to 1250, just to get a bit more light.
Nice thing in this kind of photography is, you set up everything, turn the intervalometer on, and just get to a comfy spot and enjoy the show. It is an interesting place to be alone with the stars as i was last time, but with someone with you, time passes a bit faster. I was there with a friend, as 3 other photographer friends canceled on us.
And for the end, one kinda a selfie
