| Back to the middle of January. For a change, I was at the north coast of Patras in the late afternoon. Made a lot of pictures that day. Would have been a post with 41 photos, so I decided to split it up. Today just those that I made at the actual north coast. For the sunset I moved to the west, these pictures will be in another post. | Zurück nach Mitte Januar. Zur Abwechslung war ich mal am späten Nachmittag an der Nordküste. Der Tag erbrachte viele Bilder, zuviele. Wäre ein Beitrag mit 41 Fotos geworden, also entschied ich mich dazu, ihn aufzuteilen. Heute gibt es nur die Bilder, die ich an der eigentlichen Nordküste machte. Für den Sonnenuntergang fuhr ich weiter nach Westen. Diese Bilder sind dann in einem weiteren Beitrag. |

| For some strange reason, that day was the first time that I noticed that there are ferries between Rio & Antirrio, at the south & north coast of the Gulf of Patras respectively. They were pretty far away, so at the time I wondered why there were so many huge yachts in that area. | Aus irgendeinem Grund war dies das erste Mal, daß mir auffiel, daß es Fähren zwischen Rio & Andirrio gibt. Sie waren ziemlich weit weg, weshalb ich mich zu der Zeit wunderte, warum es dort soviele große Jachten gab. |

| Which brings me back to the ferries. One reason I thought they were yachts was, that one of them was bright red. But the tele-zoom showed that it looked more like a ferry, which was confirmed when I was back home at the computer. Still, looks quite nice for a ferry. | Was mich zurück zu den Fähren bringt. Ein Grund dafür, daß ich sie für Jachten hielt, war, daß eine davon rot leuchtete. Aber das Telezoomobjektiv zeigte, daß diese doch eher wie eine Fähre aussah, was sich am Computer dann bestätigte. Sieht aber doch recht nett für eine Fähre aus. |

| Then I found the cockle from the title pic. The first time I found a complete example, though a dead one. In German these clam shells are called 'Herzmuscheln', heart cockles. Never knew why. | As usual, at the north coast, there were numerous interesting stones, particularly meat stones. Wanted to publish this post yesterday, but because there were so many photos to edit, I didn't get it done. | In some meat stones, the fat seemed a bit rotten. But maybe that's because of the condiments used for cooking them. (Actually, IIRC, in China there is a kind of dried bacon which shows similar colours.) | Das Fett mancher Fleischsteine erschien ein wenig ranzig.
