Growing up in Upstate NY, the weather always seemed to be one perpetual pattern, slowly shifting from one front to another; rarely could you see fronts coming from far away. If you woke up in the morning and it was rainy, the clouds might eventually dissipate by the end of the day, but there were never distinctive change from rain to sunshine.
Even after four years in Georgia, watching distinct fronts pour across the sky gives me pause. Sometimes it's an afternoon thunderstorm ushering itself in with a tidal wave of gray rolling clouds and a cool welcoming breeze, or like this morning, it's just two distinct fronts, sharing the same bit of sky.
