The Great Salt Lake
The Great Salt Lake is regarded to most as mainly a smelly lake. A place you pass on by. People don't visit often because of the smell, salty mud, and the bugs. With that aside. It is by far one of the best must see spot to visit while in Utah. Even though it isn't the most pleasant at times, at certain times it really is. The lake and the sun create a beauty all their own.
On this particular evening the bugs were at play and the patterns of the water were showing through. The ripples in the waves were small and the bugs rode along as if the surf was up. Enjoying the motion of the little ocean they are ridding. A easy evening. Cool, calm, and relaxing to say the least.
Bugs and smell aside, if you are in the Utah area and you have a evening. Don't be afraid to use it to sneak out to the lake and catch a sunset. It is only about 15 minutes away from downtown Salt Lake City and it is a rare gem that many do not get to see. That many unfortunately miss out on.
Even if you do not make it to the shores of the lake. Or you don't get the chance to make it to the old Saltair. Just making it to the roads by the lakes can be good enough. When the pioneers first came to Utah they thought they made it to the ocean. When you just make it to see a sunset at the Great Salt Lake you can really see why they thought the made it to the coast.
