St.George Bound
In March of 2017, my wife and I decided to take a trip in which we would fly from Texas and arrive in Las Vegas.
There we would venture on by vehicle to our first destination of our trip St.George, Utah.
Before crossing the border from Nevada into Arizona we stopped at this amazing 50’s style diner that had delicious food, with this beautiful vintage car parked right out front.
After our quick stop at the diner we set back on course to our destination.
The drive into Utah was beautiful in every way, throughout our drive you could see nothing but tall rock formations towering over you, driving alongside and inside these giant beauties was amazing.
We were so awed of the sites that we had to stop and capture the colors of this formation.
After heading back on the road for a couple of hours we finally made it to St.George.
A beautiful little town that was settled by the Virgin river and had made its way up the hills alongside the Red Cliff's National Conservation.
My wife and I settled into our hotel that was not even a 10 minute walk to Old Town St.George. As she got ready I decided to walk down to the corner store while checking out the sites on the way.
Before making it to the corner store I stumbled upon a courthouse of the town that was established in 1876.
It served the county government as offices, the 18-in thick walls down in the basement held the jail cells, while the upstairs by day served as classrooms for children and served as a courtroom by night.
A cool piece of history that was built beautifully.
Heading back to the hotel we set off for the Sand Hollow Reservoir to bask in the sun and see the sites *set before us.
We hiked around the reservoir for quite some time till until we stopped by the water to relax and have a nice dip into the beautiful clear water.
It was a great ending for the start of our long trip through the west.
Part Two of our travels through the west, we head north of Utah where we explore around Salt Lake City for a couple of days before heading to Twin Falls, Idaho.
Until next time get schwifty,
