Campground review: Coes Ford

Hi Steemians, this weeks camp spot is Coes Ford New Zealand.

Price: Free!

Ill be putting these under the hashtag #kiwicamping, as a convenient reference point when you visit this lovely land.

The gps coordinates are -43.695063,172.413982

It is about 20km south of Christchurch.

I had a lovely time here, the air is rich with birdsong. The most abundant bird here is the native fantail. This charming little creature darts past you to eat the insects you disturb as you walk through the reserve.

A river runs adjacent to the campground, offering opportunities to catch wild trout, or a cold if you're silly enough to fall in.

Mother nature is a bit of a show off in New Zealand as these gratuitous photos show.

I was having a lovely time here, as it's very peaceful. There's even your token farm animals, if that kind of thing amuses you. Some people haven't seen a cow. Yeah, really.

"You must be joking! I mean... Moo."

"Pssst, don't tell anyone, but we're actually delicious"

I was having a great time that is, until Russia decided to launch a thermo nuclear warhead directly at my campsite.

Not cool Russia, not cool

Next time, I'll bring sunblock

Despite sustaining burns to 90% of my body and getting an almost lethal dose of radiation, I was able to crawl to my car and start the engine. Luckily its computer hadn't been fried by the electromagnetic pulse.

"Start you bastard! Oh god! The humanity! Oh... Sweet. I left a cookie in here... Omnomnomnom"

After finally making it back to my bunker, I shut the hatch and injected myself with a combination of morphine, adrenaline and irish coffee. I don't know how long the generator will last.

"Welp, guess I don't have to go to work tomorrow."
