My favorite Sunflower Variety is the "Ring of Fire"

The organic farm we volunteer 5 hours a week at in exchange for unlimited food has lots of sunflowers blooming, including my favorite!

Cool Fact:

At first glance it is hard to see that sunflowers are not just one but hundreads of smaller flowers in one. The inside of the "Sun Flower" contains more smaller flowers called "Disk Florets" while the Yellow petals are called "Ray Florets". The Disk Florets pollinate eachother to make the sunflower seeds, a tasty treat after a summer long of beauty.

There are LOTS of different varieties of sunflowers, I have found at least 5 different kinds growing at the farm. I will share with you them all another time.
