Chinese Lantern Festival Spokane Washington Part 2

in #photography8 years ago

This festival is held in the fall at the Riverfront Park in downtown Spokane Washington. The displays are pretty during the day but when the sun goes down and the lanterns are lit up they take on a life of their own. The colors, designs and artistry are wonderful to observe on beautiful, crisp Autumn evening. The first picture is of a Chinese Dragon seen close up.

The display had motion to it some of the "Jelly Fish" moved up and down and other portions rotated left and right.DSC00911.JPGThese were made out of tiny vials of colored water wired to a cage. An amazing amount of work resulting in a really cool display.DSC00921.JPGEven a giant Koi made an appearance.DSC00931.JPGDragons not only appear slithering along the ground but up white columns as well.DSC00937.JPGThe event comes with a castle as well. This castle is made with China plates and bowls along with colorful lanterns.DSC00916.JPGOf course flowers were on display long after the real ones have long been dormant.DSC00918.JPGDSC00942.JPGDSC00944.JPGDSC00948.JPGDSC00918.JPGI've only given a small glimpse of all that the Chinese Lantern Festival holds. There are also booths for artisans to display and sell their creations. If you live here or are visiting during the run of this festival it is well worth it.
