Siargao is the surfing capital of the Philippines. It's located 800 kilometers southeast of Manila in the province of Surigao Del Norte. The tide of the island is diurnal with tidal curves.
Siargao has a lot of tourist spots to offer. I had the pleasure to visit the island for a short period of time. We visited a few spots but unfortunately not all of them but one thing is for sure we'll be back to visit all of them.
Here are some of the spots we have visited.
This is a photo of the boardwalk where you can see the well-known surfing waves Cloud 9, with a reputation for thick, hollow tubes.
and some more the place has to offer:
Palm trees, this island has millions of them.
More palm trees and surf boards.
My life partner and a different view of the beach.
the beautiful sunset.
Guyam island.
Naked island: This island is so small there is nothing in there but sand and washed seaweeds.
Daku island.
Travelling won't be complete without tasting the food from the island.
Here are some of the food we tasted:
This is the bakunawa bowl, one of the many healthy bowls from a restaurant/bar from General Luna, Siargao. Shaka is the name of the restaurant, it is an all-day breakfast bar that serves colorful smoothie bowls also known as power bowls. Bakunawa is a dragon in Philippine mythology that is often represented as a gigantic sea serpent and is believed to be the cause of eclipses.
Pizza from aventinos, a Filipino restaurant who offers freshly baked pizza, pasta dishes and rice meals. It's very affordable and delicious.
Barbeques from Mama's Grill.
To complete the trip, the main reason why we visited siargao is surfing. We have a very few photos surfing because we decided to enjoy it as much as we can.
Here is a photo of us surfing.
If you are planning to visit Philippines make sure to include Siargao on your list. These are just a few things you could do and few places to visit.
