My first story here, so I thought I might start with some analog film photos I made last year at a convention in Transylvania.
It was about old engines, some of them steam powered, some of them diesel and a few petrol. The event was held at Cernat a small village in Transylvania, and it's mainly for engineers, but anyone can participate. So I took my old kiev 80 camera, and a mamiya 645, loaded up with some black and white film.
In this first pic you can see the flywheel of a steam engine. These engines were used mainly in agriculture. And most of them were confiscated by the communist regime of romania, so only a few of them remain. When the communist party took over, some of the farmers hid their engines and tools, and they got forgotten. Lost and found again, few of theme were preserved in quite good condition.
This second photo was captured with the Kiev 80. A heavy piece of fine russian designed camera. Copied from the Hasselblad 500. But with low reliability, partly due to the old age of the camera but mostly due to the low quality of the assembly and an imaginary quality control department.
Development was made by me, in a "home brew" developer. I mix my own developers, from old raw materials according to old recipes I found in photography books. If you wish to know how I mix my developers, just let me know in the comments.
This last image was made with the mamiya 645. A good and cheap camera, but very often with light leaks. Mine had them too, some of the photos had a lighter strip on them.
It's quite annoying, but one can easily get rid of them by replacing the light seals. I have done it with great results.
