Halema’uma’u crater atop Kīlauea.
This time was the most magic filled adventure ~ we saw the lava lake. Usually it’s a tantalising radiant, smokey glow from the heart of Kīlauea but this time there was a bubbling lava lake... days later the crater drained, the quakes started and the ground began to crack ~ Pele was on the move.
It’s been one month since the lava hit the streets of Leilani. Then Pohoiki, the 137, the 132, Green lake, Green Mountain and now, Kapoho.
Over 500 homes taken.
Thousands of people evacuated.
Over 5000 acres of land taken & created.
Areas of majestic beauty isolated or just, gone.
It’s a continuing dance between awe & heartbreak
And one that can only be experienced.
Pray for Puna ~ Aloha ✨
