i've been thinking about how with black & white photography, with color removed from the picture, the focus turns more towards texture. so this week, i played with texture!

ok so this one doesn't actually have anything to do with texture, it's just a shot i've seen around town & wanted to snag for a while

texture #1 -- post office is definitely a texture. metal, scratches, wear... so many hands & letters, too
80
as i thought more about what textures i wanted to shoot, i got to thinking about elements, like metal and earth and wood, and also technologies like fabric. turns out this rug i see almost every day is pretty cool if you take the time to look at it
81
spring is a texture, right? saw this friend in a pretty unexpected place & had to shoot it. have i mentioned i fuckin love spring?
82
it sounded like it was pouring rain, and then someone exclaimed that it was hail. i ran to get my camera, because water/ice is totally an element, and i can't remember the last time i saw hail. it was over before i got back. luckily there were still some little piles that hadn't melted yet

if my flower picture didn't capture the textures of wood and earth, this telephone sure will! there was a fun gradient on it due to its curve against the angle of the sun. it was tough to get the full range in view

i really struggled to come up with a symbol of fire, until this shot came to me. despite having a really great burst feature, it still took quite a few tries to catch the moment i was looking for
