Everyday Photography: Sunset Edition

Good evening, Hive fam!

What do you think of when you see a sunset? I always thought that there were two types of photographers: those that capture the beauty of the world, and those that use their camera to make the world look more beautiful. One of my goals is to become the second kind of photographer. I love a good sunset because I'm definitely still the first kind, and they're as beautiful as it gets.

It's also a blessing to live close to the ocean, where sunsets can be very dramatic. Someday, I'll hit the west coast, and see the sun sink directly over the water.

Sunsets are exciting because they only last for a few minutes. Because they don't last, they become more valuable, almost sacred.

These photos are all taken on an iPhone 11, without retouching. Someday, I'll be ready to catch the sunset with a better camera. As it is, they always take me by surprise.

This sunset happened during a thunderstorm. On the right side, under the cloud, lightning is flashing behind a sheet of rain. It was exhilarating to be there.

Finally, not a sunset, but a moonrise. Beautiful in a different way, that I couldn't even fully capture. Hopefully, someday I'll reach the next level with my photography. In the meantime, I'm happy to be able to share a little bit of beauty here.

xo,

Cecilia

I love to see a nice sunset (or moonrise) photo and you provided quite a nice collection of them. Thanks for sharing!
