The Gulf of Nicoya, which separates the Nicoya Peninsula from the mainland of Costa Rica, is an impressive coastal and marine landscape of wet areas, rocky and rugged islands and rocks, extensive mangrove biotopes and great biodiversity. Once, a geological defect has caused the immersion of the earth, exposing only the highs of what used to be small hills. Today those are the many islands that dot the gulf. These landscapes are from the trip from Puntarenas to Paquera.
