Hi there. I've lived in lots of places, but my heart is where I was born and bred: Rome, Italy.
Rome if often called the Eternal City, and in fact one thing which is striking here is that the City Center has not really changed over the last few centuries, barring some crazy works done by Mussolini, unfortunately.

I love photographs, especially ancient ones, and I will show here a set of beautiful pictures which feature the "Eternal" character of Rome by blending ancient and modern images.

The opening image features Audrey Hepburn riding a Vespa scooter in Rome while shooting the "Roman Holidays" movie in 1953. Notice that nothing has changed in the background...the ancient building is here to stay! Next, a historical image of US troops in Piazza Venezia, Rome, the day they liberated the city from the Nazis. As you can see, not even the road pavement has changed!

Another war image: an abandoned German tank.

Coming back to celebrities...here is Brigitte Bardot shooting a movie in Rome.

and Clint Eastwood taking it easy in Via Veneto.

Some place have indeed changed, though. You no longer meet oxes in the city centre...

..nor horses, for that matter.

From the architectural point of view, one major difference is shown in the image below...the cluster of buildings in the middle of the picture, located opposite to St. Peter's church, no longer exists as it was destroyed by Mussolini.

Tiber banks have obviously changed too.

However, girls are still as pretty as they were in the past-...

And fountains are still spilling water...

Here is a nice video to summarize all this. Enjoy, and come to visit Rome as soon as you can!

The fusion of the past with the present shot in the same angle is absolute artwork. I loved them.

I have upvoted the article and have featured it on my daily hidden gems blog. I am looking forward to seeing more photos from you. Awesome job!

Thank you. As I tried to make clear in the credits, I am not the author of the photos.

Bellissimo!

Awesome . On my bucket list.

Fantástico! Hice algo parecido en España. Muy bonito.

Gotta wonder what it would be like living in a different time, awesome pics!
