If your post is yours - that is great!

in #photography7 years ago

When I look at the messages on steemit the main criterion for selecting good posts is uniqueness.

If you take someone else's text - I will not support your message.
If you take someone else's photo - I also will not support you.

It's easy and long time you can check using Google image search.

If you are too lazy to spend 5 minutes writing a unique text - I will also be too lazy to vote for him. What for? It just clogs the project and does not do any good to the reader. (Except loss of time)

Be unique, because you can do it!

Sort:

You just took words from my lips. I hate people that are trying to cash out on somebody else's work. I am in steemit for a long run. And once i grow in power, oh boy... i will dedicate some of my profits by flagging down these thieves who do not even bother to indicate the source.

You will be angry and merciless)

You bet i will. The blood of talented artists has been drained for so long, and others taking benefit of their effort without any compensation that talented peple are litterally leaving out of business to get a simple job not to starve. It it a theft and has to be punished accordingly. Period.

In this place it is possible. Just invest in steemit 10% of your capital every month and do cool posts.

All my capital is in my startup. and the only way i can power up is by posting content on steemit that people will possibly enjoy :)

Quoting one's source is taught from grade school on, yet we find post after post without citation. It's just a plain waste of the readers time to not be able to trust or be able to research what he has just read. I've read many a great post that often has sent me looking deeper. The citation or credit was critical to my research.

We must admit the reality though. There are many people who probably never even had a chance for an elementary school and they are in this for a quick an easy money. I hope it will subside with time or they will learn from practice as the moment i see a post without a source i unfollow. In the future i will be fighting the windmills and flagging such posts once i have enough SP.

Agreed. . . in a perfect world.

This is a really good point. Steemit is the perfect place to share new ideas and spread knowledge and differing perspectives. Its also very easy to blanket the forum in crap with hopes of making money. Sometimes its hard to even find good posts because they are so quickly buried in mounds of garbage. But I guess that makes finding good post all the more rewarding. Though my posts are all original ideas, I sometimes include stock photos from the internet because they fit the content or maybe because I don't feel creative enough to use my own photos. However, your post has actually made me consider using my own pictures as well to supplement my writing content to make the entire piece more authentic. Its a really good point to consider. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Just refer to the author - it will be honest

As long as you indicate the source, i am good with it. It possibly gives an opportunity for that guy to sell if you are providing a link to high quality image source.

So you are talking more about plagiarism then - is that right?

I am talking about people who take some photo, dump it on steemit without even a source and want upvotes. When somebody is creating a written content and needs an illustration i am ok, if he adds a photo directing to the author of the image. In the ideal world such an image would be acquired before including into your content, but i am being realistic here. Imagine i start copying great content that has been written by great writers, slap an image of mine on it and start monetizing it. Would look right, yes? It is actually the same just vice versa. People take somebody's photo, scrabble a few words and they think it is ok. It is ethics right now, but i am looking into blockchain technology to find a way, how to track each usage of an image by digitally signing it. So authors get credited or paid for the content they have produced.

I see. That makes a lot of sense and I agree. I think you are on to something with your blockchain idea.

We will see, i am busy with my other startup right now, that helps photographers, models etc to find jobs without the middlemen that take up to 70% of freelancers pay. But i believe they can both work together.

Nice. That is a good idea

Nice

Thanks.

I am new here and I only have 2 post on my blog.
I am not really the most creative person but what I do post here will always be in my own words whether they be good, ok, average or plain bad they will be mine.
The opinions may not always be original or bright but they are mine, filtered through and experienced by me.
I have so far no pictures in my blog but any I use will always be credited and probably stock images or taken by me whenever I acquire a camera.

I've always loathed like you do when people steal the words or pictures of others, not to quote or use as inspiration but to claim them as their own when they really aren't.

Exactly, you need just a little bit effort to do a photograph and a little bit more heart. You can always use work of another author by crediting him. Ar least you can use any of my photos if you see fit wirh a link. Honesty is what matters. Lets build this community on strung fundamets of respect to each other. It all really depends on us if we unite.

Wow. Excellent language motivation. And very critical. Worth to be rewarded. Very special

Did you read it?

Yep they clog the project. With meaningless pictures of meaningless things and txt that nobody cares about.like say a Turtle swimming in a pond....
