World photography day
A day like today 179 years ago, the French Academy of Sciences unveiled the photographic technique known as daguerreotype, one of the first in the world. It was developed by the French Louis-Jaques-Mandé Daguerre. As a daguerreotype, the first practical photographic technique was chosen to commemorate the World Day of Photography.
