Short Story

Due to the increasing bombing of German yards, submarine production was to be relocated to bom- safe shipyards in bunkers.
In this bunker submarines of the type XXI should be produced as on the assembly line and in section construction. Every 56 hours, a submarine should be made, so 14 in a month.
It was built by 10,000-12,000 forced laborers from the occupied areas and the "Neuengamme" concentration camp.
The construction was completed by air raids that were carried out on 9 February 1945 and on 27 March 1945 by 18 specially equipped bombers of the type Lancester B Mk.I (Special). Among other things, these threw 13 "Grand Slams" (10 t bombs) on the bunker, 2 of them penetrated the roof and tore 8 m craters into the bunker ceiling.
