This post is a follow up on my previous post a couple days ago. I wanted to upload these yesterday. But my hangover got the better of me!
But what better way to get over a hangover than to look at some beautiful flowers ;)
Pelecyphora strobiliformis
This particular species of cacti falls under the Pelecyohora genus category. Although quite different in appearance to there cousin the pelecyohora assiliformis (shown below)
Above photo sourced from: http://www.cactus-art.biz/schede/PELECYPHORA/Pelecyphora_aselliformis/Pelecyphora_aselliformis/Pelecyphora_aselliformis.htm <- ** more information on the Assiliformis species through link
These two plants both produce a very similar flower and fruit, along with other telltale signs like seedling stages of growth and doing genetic testing.
They both originate from Mexico, so they fall victim to the illegal poaching that's going on. Fortunately, the pelecyphora strobiliformis seeds are quite fertile and have great success reproducing. It is estimated that they're over 100'000 of then in the wild!
Happy new year everyone, I hope you all have an amazing year!
