The whooper swan (Cygnus cygnus) is a fairly easy target for any photographer because it is not a shy bird.
It is quite a large bird about 140-160 cm with a wingspan of 260 cm. As a rule, they stay in pairs for life, but very few cases of divorce are known. In winter they form small groups, but during the breeding season, they become territorial birds and do not tolerate other individuals near their nest. Most often I photograph them in late winter when they are not very careful yet and do not react as they do when brooding eggs or caring for chicks.
