Hi.
Today I tried something new that poped up in my phone. Google photos has a addon that automaticaly edits your photos.
What do you think of the edit ? How many of you know what this is and what it was used for ?
This is a miniature but it's a windmill. It works by converting wind energy to rotational energy. Back in the days it was used for mill graining and pumping water.
Today they look like this:
and even though they take a little different form they act on the same principles as the old gristmills.
There are some full size windmills in my home village, if it interests you I would be glad to post them.

Okay so what happened here was Google decided your image was too flat and had too much contrast. The windmill however is quite dark in this photo so as soon as the contrast went up, the mill got darker. That did improve the color though and thats where Google messed up. Of course it would have been better if the image had been a little lighter. Dark photos like these need less vivid colors and less contrast. If you are going to edit manually in any program, be sure to lower the contrast and the shadows, this will make it a bit more flat but way more visible in the end.
Thanks for the input, will consider it in the future. I agree that the picture is quite dark, just thought it was kinda funny when google automatically edited it.
Sure! Automatic edits are handy, but its better to understand what actually happens so those auto-edits wont be necessary anymore in the future ;)
Yupp for sure, you got some really nice photos there. Followed, what's your opinion on my other photos and the ones I edited?
Thank you, followed back. Well I like that they colorful! As for the edit of the Heineken bottle for example, you did well there to bring out the sky.
