Happy Monday! I hope everyone is having a great start to the week.
Today was my second day practicing a 20 minute morning meditation as part of my 8 week detox challenge. It may not sound difficult to sit in place for 20 minutes, but I found myself constantly wanting to move or look at my phone. My to-do lists kept repeating in my head, and I had the sinking feeling that I was doing it wrong, thinking too much, or wasting time. We live in a world that constantly bombards our senses and distracts us, so I know it'll take time to encourage my mind to be quiet.
I recommend the infographic linked below for meditation beginners like me. When my thoughts wandered, I came back to those 6 steps and got back to focusing on my breath.

If I actually try meditation, I simply couldn't because I am so active to stay 20 minutes doing nothing.
I'm having the same trouble! From everything I've researched, it just takes consistent practice to get the hang of. Tons of extremely successful people/CEOs say that meditation is the one habit that has changed their life for the better, and allows them to be more productive. So I'll see how it goes over these 8 weeks... I think one of the keys is allowing myself to get distracted, and then being mindful of where my mind wanders to. I find there is a lot of judgemental/negative chatter going on in the background of my mind, and I don't really notice it's there until I'm quiet and sitting still.
