Hi Everyone,
I wanted to share with you guys my favorite picture from my trip to upstate NY as my entry in @wolfje photo competition (and my first Steemit post!). This was a particularly memorable trip for me because it was the first vacation me and my girlfriend took on our own (without our families or friends). We went up for Labor Day weekend and stayed in Ticonderoga for 3 days.
On the second day of our trip we were debating whether we make the hour long trek to Ausable Chasm or go to Fort Ticonderoga which was just down the road. We thankfully decided to make the trip over to the chasm because not only were we rewarded with some great pictures, but we got to experience this beautiful natural landmark.
Ausable Chasm is a great place to make a day trip out of if you are in the area. There are a number of hiking trails that you can explore, and in the warmer months you can either raft or tube down the chasm. We chose to raft because the water was pretty cold when we went, and I think this is probably the best way to experience the chasm. You raft down the river with a guide and a handful of other while the guide gives you the history of the chasm from when it was originally turned into a tourist destination to present day. It is a wonderful experience and I definitely recommend checking it out!
