Indoor Rock Climbing

in #photography7 years ago

Yesterday I took my son to "Grip It Climbing" here in town. It was our first time going there. Personally, I'm not a big fan of heights, so I let my son do the climbing for the both of us. I'm much more comfortable on a hiking trail or mountain bike! Anyways, he had a ton of fun, trying out different walls and climbs. With the safety harness system in place, I felt quite confident. Perhaps next time I'll give it a shot!

On a side note, we watched a few videos of Alex Honnold doing his "Free soloing" rock climbing. This is when you climb without any safety equipment! It's the WILDEST thing I've ever seen. If you haven't seen videos of him climbing, go to YouTube now and check it out, its CRAZY!

It's so much fun, you have to try it next time! And Alex's videos are insane, I couldn't believe it the first time I watched it.

Every time I watch his videos my palms get sweaty!
Thanks

Awesome expirience! It is tuff sport

It does look physically demanding!

That looked like fun!! Thank you for sharing!

I love....!!

Rock climbing is not for me, but your son looks like he is having fun...

He had a blast! Maybe I'll try it, maybe..
Thanks for coming

good post

I did that when I was about 8 years old with a harness. It was really fun.

Terrific post. @daveks

Did a bit of rock climbing years back but always with rope not that adventurous to try free climbing except on very mild climbs

I bet your son had a blast climbing there

Yeah, he's ready to go back again!
He may be more interested in individual sports as opposed to team sports

Well an interest in any form of sport whether team or individual I believe :)

Yea dude free style rock climbing is super intense, demanding and DANGEROUS!

I have done quite a bit of climbing in my time and thankfully have never been seriously injured, though in my mature old age I have given most of the hardcore stuff up hahaha.

I wish I was as old as you dude!
I may give it a shot, but will have to train up a bit more (a lot more).

Yes rock climbing even in an indoor gym is a FULL body workout!

Its a good place to start cause its very safe and u can find routes that are on the easier side. It will be good for you, get you in shape fast!

Go for it!

Nice, you gotta try it more as well daveks. After I got into rock climbing, I can claim now its the best thing I did for my hiking/scrambling experiences as well, as I can get places I would never of dared comfortably before. The skills have also saved my butt from injury at least once on some scrambles. Plus, its a TON of fun, and good exercise, give it a go!
