Summer Vacation Day #7
On this day the main goal was to hike to Consolation Lakes, the trailhead is located at Moraine Lake (20 minutes driving distance from Lake Louise) and is accessible from the huge Rock Pile! But on the way out there, we decided to stop in Canmore and do some light hiking beside the Bow river, which runs through it.
So we spent a couple of hours around the Bow river area enjoying the scenery, in this picturesque little town, located about 10 minutes driving distance away from the Banff townsite. This town would make a great retirement destination!
After Canmore, we spent a bit more time in Banff before heading off to hike Consolation Lakes. The area is quite busy, so we were advised to wait till later in the afternoon before beginning, which we did. The hike itself was quite easy, with very little elevation gain. Surprisingly there were very few hikers on the trail, which we found unusual. I was thinking to myself, did we miss a Bear Warning or something?? Once we arrived, I was shocked to find out that there was no one else there!! Wow, the whole area to ourselves!! Wonderful, made for quite a memorable experience and definitly worth doing.
Here are some photos captured that day:
