This is a photo that i took in the Almendres megalithic settlement, also known as The Almendres Cromlech.
This fantastic place is on the outskirts of the city of Évora, in the heart of Alentejo, the wider region of Portugal.
This is the biggest megalithic monument in the Iberian Peninsula and one of the oldest in the world.
In fact, this monument is 2000 years older than the better-known Stonehenge.
For those who have already had the opportunity to visit it, it's a magical place with a very own and different energy...
Wow, didn't know Portugal had one. Cheers
Portugal has one of the largest concentrations of megalithic monuments in the world! Most of them are in the Alentejo region. A very cool piece of history! Nice find!
Thanks Aaron
You're welcome David ;)
I love megaliths ! There are a lot in Carnac, Brittany and it's very energetical ^_^
Thanks for the commentIndeed @barbara-orenya
Great photo!! I've tried also but never took one that I could be proud! :)
I've taken some more photos, but this was the only one I liked after the editing process! In that place it's necessary a good angle, good framing and luck in the light ;)
Luck in the light and visitors!! ;) My last time there was on a Sunday...that was my problem!
Agree ... that place is always crowded!
Beautiful photo, and very interesting info. Thanks for putting it out. Seems one could spend a LOT of time there, clicking away.
Thanks for the comment @ddschteinn
Very welcome. And after seeing other comments, I forget about the visitors, climbing all over the place. That would definitely make it hard to do any serious photography.
Yes... many times it's a struggle @ddschteinn
