Wildlife

pageBreak.png

This week's theme is Wildlife and it was chosen by @pardinus. Wildlife is always a fun one because I love seeing the different types of animals from all over the world. I love to travel and see animals of the world, so when I am not able to travel, it is cool to see the animal pictures you all share. I am really looking forward to seeing what you all share this week. Thank you @pardinus for suggesting this theme. I am expecting a pretty awesome shot from you since this was your choice.

How is the Deranged Photography Contest set up?

pageBreak.png

The contest is broken up into three different tiers. Each will have a different payout for the winners based on what tier you enter into. Here is a breakdown of the rewards based on the tiers:

PlaceProfessionalAmateurBeginner
1st5 PAL4 PAL3 PAL
2nd3 PAL2.5 PAL2 PAL
3rd2 PAL1.5 PAL1 PAL

Each contest will be open for submissions for 6 days after the post is made and then closes at 0100 UTC (1800 MST) on the 6th day.

This will give me and any guest judges time to judge the submissions and create the post announcing the winners.

How to enter

pageBreak.png

When you enter a photo in the competition, you will state what tier you want to be judged in and locked in for the month at that level.

For example if you enter a photo, you drop the photo in the comment section, state what level of photographer you are, and then give a description of the photograph.

That's pretty much it, drop a photo in the comment section of this post and state your tier. If you want to make a separate post for your entry as well, that is fine, but for your entry to be valid, your photo and tier must be in here in the comment section of this post. If you do make a separate post, be sure to use the #palnet tag.

Additional Notes

pageBreak.png

  • Only one submission per contest. Extra submissions will be ignored.

  • You can switch your tier ONE time per month, but only if you are moving up into a higher tier, for example if you are currently in the amateur tier, but you think that you have a photograph that you want to enter in the professional tier, you can state that you are changing your tier to professional. You will then be locked into the new tier for the remainder of the month. You are not able to move down to a lower tier, like going from amateur to the beginner tier.

  • If you do not state wish tier you want to be judged in for the month, I will leave a comment to remind you to do so, but if you don't respond, you will be assigned to a tier and locked in for that month.

  • Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any form. All submissions must be your own work. I will investigate every entry and if you are caught plagiarizing, not only will you be blacklisted from competing from any future contests, but you will be reported to @steemcleaners as well. It is not worth it to try and cheat, especially with the 3 tier set up where everyone has an equal shot of winning.

Thank you to the sponsors

pageBreak.png

I want to give a huge thank you to @isaria and @swelker101 for helping to make this contest possible. You guys are awesome and do so much for the community here. Keep up the awesome work that you both do each day.

Thank you to everyone that will be participating. The contest wouldn't be around without your great submissions!

Tier: Professional

I had a close encounter with a brown bear in Macedonia a few weeks ago, but I was happy to get away with my life and didn't dare to make a sudden movement to get my camera out. So instead, here's a photo from an Elephant in Udawalawe NP in Sri Lanka. It was the first Safari I did and while it was cool to see some animals up close, I wasn't too happy with my shots and sitting in the jeep for a few hours made me tired, I prefer more active travelling.

Seeing the elephants on my safari was one of the coolest experiences. Cool shot.

Glad that you´re back with your contest. Here is my Entry for this week.

Very nice to see your contest ... and seems I dropped by at the exact right time when I look at the theme!

Wow it's stunning.

Tier: Amateur

I've recently returned from Kenya and Tanzania so I'm flush with choices for this one - I'm going to go with the always elusive Leopard. I also tend do wildlife photography in mono as I think it add some power, and often the animals are the same colour as the background so this adds punch.

I miss Tanzania. I can't wait to go back and go on another safari. Such a cool shot.

Excellent theme for the contest! Here is my entry for the Professional tier:

Excellent shot. I wish I could get some shots of a bald eagle out in the wild.

Thanks man, just head up to the PNW and bring plenty of memory cards!

Here is my entry, a squirrel monkey eating an ice cream bean I photographed in Costa Rica. These guys don't sit still for long so capturing shots of them can be a tricky business!

This is such an awesome shot. I love the expression. It is like he is trying to hide from the camera.

Walking to the horizon post.
Giraffes are amazing animals and when there are many together they are even more spectacular. I waited patiently for them to line up as they were walking to the horizon. For more about the giraffes I saw in Kenya see my last post Olmeut, which is Maa for giraffe.

Tier: Professional

Now you are making me miss Africa! Great shot.

Oh, the pressure! Thank you again for choosing this topic for this week's contest @derangedvisions! I made a post to try and give some more exposure to the contest:

And here is the photo; it was taken in Uda Wallawe National Park, in Sri Lanka. A changeable hawk-eagle was perched, scouting the surroundings, and allowed us to get close enough to take decent photos!

I've got a little family in the tree in my front yard now too. Cool shot.

Tier Amateur

It's getting pretty warm here, even the local sidewinders are looking for shade. Actually, I think this guy is really interested in the hole right there beside him because this is hunting posture. Not coiled for a strike, but vibrated right into the ground and nearly impossible to see from ground level. Not exactly easy to see from above!
July Sidewinder Crop.JPG

Good thing you didn't step on him. I have never seen a sidewinder in person.

I see them with fair regularity. I thought I was going to get a fresh pic this morning (tracks were pretty blatant) but Sam was 'nosing around' so I didn't even really look...

This is my entry for the contest. The little puppy waiting for his mother to get some food.

Such a cute little guy.

Friends a year ago I went to Peru and the course of the trip in a lagoon I took this nice picture to a PATOAZO MALE PATO this picture I loved and now I would like to share with you friends I hope you like it a lot

Awesome to see this active again man! Really happy to see.

Guess I'll have to use this picture, its been edited to bring up the light as I was in shadows and the dogs are black sooooo... Probably not the best base to get a good shot on.

I'm going to have to go with beginner tier too. Just cos I am crap at photography. LOL

Awesome seeing you here participating. Great entry.

This was probably the fattest dragonfly I saw. Spotted it at a small pond in a local park. Seemed that it liked to pose and allowed me to come pretty close.

I would like to enter in the amateur level.

A black vulture sunning on the roof of one of my father's barns in Pennsylvania, USA. I took this last year not many days after my mother's memorial service. But I hadn't really looked at my photos from that trip until now. Looks like I found some great things despite my mood.

Love

Colorful sunset at Curonian gulf, Lithuania and two swans in a perfect heart form position. Was really a lot lucky to get exactly what wanted...

Enjoy the scenery :)
