When I started on Steemit 45 days ago, I never thought my journey would have taken the path that it has. I originally joined as a place to share my photography from Africa and maybe some of my other photos that I have been taking, but I was quickly introduced to so many other opportunities for me to grow, from writing, film, art, to poetry. The possibilities for a creative on this platform are endless.

I have been overwhelmed with the incredible community that is on the Steemit platform. I have been welcomed into many different Discord channels and met many great people. @quillfire has been such an inspiration to me with his daily poetry writings, and ever since I met him, I have pushed myself to write more intellectually because he is an artist with his pen and paper. If you have not given him a follow, I highly recommend you do because he writes some of the most thought provoking poems I have ever read.
I have met so many other people through @czechglobalhosts and his daily contests. If you are a fan of photography and you are not following him yet, he hosts daily photography contests where some of the best photographers on Steemit share their travel photography from all over the world. I recommend following him and sharing your photography in his contests for the Steemit community to see. He has just over 8,000 and is going to reach 10,000 in no time.
There are also the members of the Veteran Community that I have met while I have been here. We usually put up walls when it comes to meeting new people, but when I am with these brothers in arms, we are a great support for each other and I appreciate each and every one of you. @veteranforcrypto, @basicstoliving, @rakkasan84, @guiltyparties, and @staceyjean, you all have been an awesome support group for me so far.
Photo I took of Lynn during filming of War-Torn
I recently decided to release my film titled War-Torn: The Story of "Dobie" Gillies here on Steemit and I was blown away by the reception that it got. @quillfire wrote an amazing poem here to help promote here to promote the release. Then a day later @rubencress contacted me about it and spent some time with me finalize the post for @curie and @carlgnash to review it. I later found out that the film had been curated and was one of the highest voted posts from the Curie Guild. That was an amazing feeling to know that this film was going to be spread to such a wide audience. Then the comments of support for the film started flowing on the post's comment section. There were comments about how the film had touched them and stories of Veterans that they knew that had suffered and comments from fellow Veterans that were suffering and that the film had helped them. It is a great feeling to know that all the time spent working on this film with Lynn has been able to help people.
One of the other people that has made my firsts 45 days of Steemit awesome is @tecnosgirl. Not only does she have cool contests that give back to the Steemit community, but she also sends prizes to you in the mail, so it is a double bonus. I just received a pack of Steemit playing cards from her in the mail box today as a reminder of how great this community is. @tecnosgirl, like I told you in the package I sent you, thank you for making my Steemit journey awesome.
For me, these past 45 days have been a blur of awesomeness, but this is just the beginning for me. I have some big plans for Steemit and I am here to stay. The community is great. I also want to thank @crimsonclad for showing me around when I first got here on Steemit and introducing me to the Veteran community and for running the best radio shows on MSP Radio. Thank you all for taking the time to read about my journey thus far and if you want to see where this journey takes me, make sure to give me a follow. Big things are coming.
Coming in hot 🔥 Keep it up D, looking forward to more of your content, quality is the only way we can keep this platform great ✊🏽
For sure man. Your art has actually inspired me to get back into photoshop and mess around with some of my images again. I used to spend a lot of time in photoshop with my pictures, but got too busy. I had so much fun back then letting the creativity flow.
That's great news! Photoshop can definitely be a very useful tool for creativity, for me it's been a decisive factor in my art career... That image is really strong, creepy af! Let the art flow :D
@derangedvisions,
Thank you for your generous words.
If there is a post on Steemit that more merits an audience than does your documentary, War-Torn, I have not seen it.
I hope the next 45 days yield as much success as the first.
You're welcome. Your friendship here has been one of the things that make this platform so great for me.
Back at ya buddy. :-)
I agree that steemit is an awesome place and has a great photography community...it is a breath of fresh air really.
There are some amazing photographers here.
Kenya and Masaai i presume? Or tanzania??
I was in Tanzania living in a Maasai village for a month. It was awesome.
I have done the same in Kenya but not with a tribe. In the city. Ive been trying to get them on steemit
I am glad to be a part of making your steemit journey awesome. Hope those playing cards gets people you know who don't know about steemit asking about what is that
Thank you. I am going use them next time I play cards.
I hope I have given some encouragement in the time we have been talking through posts and discord. I am glad I am making Steemit a good place for you. Steem On, Brother!
It has. It is always nice to learn the way from the wise ones.
Wise ones, I know you are not talking about me. LOL. I am still learning and the wise ones have helped me a lot.
You are more wise than I
Thanks so much for giving me a shout-out! And even more for sharing your talent and gifts with us on steemit and on discord. This is something I have been anticipating, to see the veteran community stand out and see how we're no different but we also have a unique view of the world. Keep it up bro! I've been talking about and sharing your movie left and right. Big hugs and lots of love to you and your wife. Thanks for being part of the Steemverse and MSP family 🙏🌸
Thank you so much for your mention Wes! Truly appreciated. Wishing you the best of luck on your Steemit journey. Tomas
You are welcome Tomas. You have been instrumental in my growth in Steemit and I truly appreciate it. Plus we really need to get you to 10,000 followers It is exciting when new photographers find your contests and share their great travel photography so that I have more ideas of where my wife and I will be traveling to once our kids are done with school.
