Seoul, Korea or East Los Angeles?

Something strange is going on in Seoul, Korea. Young people are dressing up like old school Cholos from L.A.

The retro wave is getting strong, first it started with 90's nostalgia; Knight Rider, Street Fighter, etc. Now, it's expanding all the way to the 80's, 70's and 50's. The pachuco/lowrider style from East Los, with an air of modern streetwear. The black & Grey tattoos, old english lettering with block wicked numbers.

As an ex gang-member turned world traveler, this feels surreal. Who would've known that I'd cross the world, to see the same style that's been around back home, minus the violence. It's all for fashion here, they don't really live it like we lived it.

I once saw a young girl wearing a t-shirt that said "Sureño 13", the name of an ACTUAL gang in Los Angeles, it tripped me out lol. Why is this considered cool/trendy here?

I wonder, since these guys are very young (Most Koreans that dress this way are young students) is it possible that they may feel this style is exclusive to Korea/not an adaptation of old cholo street wear? Would be interesting to ask where they got the influence from... perhaps watching old movies like Blood In Blood out lol

These following images don't capture the full essence of what's happening in the streets of Hongdae, Seoul... but it's a small window. I'll try to take more pictures and will show you guys.
