They were the first set of multiples in our family for a few years, seven to be exact. We are a family of many multiples. But triplets, concieved the good old fashioned way? The first.
She may be one of three, but, she is an individual. She may look like them, but she stands out in a crowd.
The odds of conceiving triplets naturally is about 1 in 8,000 births for fraternal, 1 in 62,500 for identical - give or take a couple. It has been said that there has been a 400% increase in triplets over the last 20 years.

She is doing great and she keeps up easily with the other two. I am so proud of her! Although she had a rough start, and faltered her first year, all of that is behind her.
Hard to believe Ben was a failure to thrive! :)

Oh my, how precious @dswigle!!!! Such a tiny little thing, I do hope she is healthy and well now. How was mama? Wow, triplets I can't imagine. Please do tell me more about her! One of three? Brothers? Sisters? Such a blessing, a breath of fresh air, our future!
She is actually the third in a set of two girls and a boy, the boy being the oldest. Although she struggled with oxygen levels in the beginning, and was born at 38 weeks, she now doesn't seem to have any ill affects. Yay! She also has an older sister who was 2 at the time of their birth.
They were quite unexpected, but, are a true blessing! 💖

I am glad to hear that she has caught up with her siblings. Babies are amazing and resilient and we do live in a time where we have tools to help babies that are born early.
Thank God, right? He has been good to those babies! Each one of them was over 4 1/2 pounds and born at 38 weeks.

For a triplet, she was actually quite big, although yes!! I think she was a tiny little miracle. Aren't they all? Life itself is an amazing act that is hard to follow.

I have never taken for granted the gift of life. I can honestly say that as one of my brothers was born blue from lack of oxygen. It was scary and he was the last child my mother had. Although, to be fair, he was #9. :)

I'm glad to know she is doing so well now. The photo is beautiful but tugged at my heart.
My mom was a twin, (her twin was stillborn). As far as I know we don't have any others. Although, I have teased my daughter that it skips a generation. lol
Multiples pretty much run rampant in my family. I always thought that of all the things our family could have, multiples was a blessing and a curse. Every time somebody in the family got pregnant they would sit and wait to make sure that it was a Singleton. My grandmother was a twin and she had a set of twins where one was stillborn. I think that was , I hate to use the word common, but seeing a lot more than you see today. Better Health, better nutrition, better Medical Care. How fortunate she was born into this Century because she would never have lived in the last one. And saying all of that, to date they are happy, healthy and thriving well in this world. The picture brought back the tender memories of our little one. He is probably smaller than your precious one when he was born. Hehe. But he is now a healthy four-year old.
And yes, I agree that each person is a unique individual. There may be so much similarities between twins and triplets but there are traits that would always be peculiar to each one. And that's the miracle of life! A very rare gift that we should never take for granted.

You are so right! And there isn't a day that doesn't go by that our family doesn't know how fortunate and how blessed we all are.
In my eyes, every baby born on this Earth has a gift. While the reasons are far and wide for their existence every single one of them is a miracle of life. I think that babies are never a mistake and they bring true love into your heart.
I believe that your little boy is so fortunate to have a mother that loves him to the Moon and back. you just can't buy that!

Triplets are tough and high risk, to be sure. It was a natural phenomenon and no fertility drugs for used oh, so I have to believe it was God's will. They are doing well and thriving and thank you so much for all your kindness.

It's truly a miracle that all 3 are thriving. My sister and niece are nurses in the neo-natal intensive care units, 2 different hospitals, and I am always hearing about preemies. Multiple births very often produce tiny little babies who have to fight to stay alive. Your story has a wonderful finish, all 3 are alive, well and growing strong.
