I found this great old barn while driving around and just had to stop and take some photos. The day was overcast, but even a sky full of clouds produced some wonderful textures looming above the barn.
I shot all these photos in color, but in RAW format so I have the ability to manipulate in Adobe Lightroom. This knotty wood was helped by changing the color temperature and adding more blue. This brought out the deep grain of the wood.
Here is a comparison of between a color image and a black and white. Same image, just processed differently. I cranked up the Detail setting for the B&W.
And finally a nice close up showing the deep weathering this wood has endured. The nails seem to be barely holding the wood in place.
I hope you've enjoyed these images and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
I love these old structures as well.
Reclaimed wood trades at a premium, and many old structures are being torn down for the materials. But I guess that is for the better.
Old barn wood certainly is being sold at a premium these days and being used for so many other projects. But, like you, it's believe it's great to be able to capture their beauty before being reclaimed.
Thanks for your comments.
Great shots @edit-or
I hope to see more in the future.
Maybe an introduction post in #introduceyourself would do the trick to gather more follower and to show the community that you are here.
Great suggestion astrophoto.kevin! Will do - and thank you for the compliment.
You're welcome :-)
