I've recently made volunteer work for organisation which helps women collecting coffee in Indonesia (something like labor union). We filmed short movie (which was used by indonesian TV to enlight women's problem in that industry).
Here are a few photos about coffee life (I'll post video in one of the next posts, follow me to watch it)
Coffee flowers (they smell like a very expensive perfume. very compelling scent):
Green beans (you may see one of the problems - plant infected with fungus :(
"Cherrie" stage - almost ready to be picked up:
Collected coffee:
Then it's dried by the sun:
Then peeled (by vibro-machine) and sorted by hands:
Sorted coffee is ready to be roasted!
Yours truly:
Let's have a look at workers:
That's how they live (in a pan our dinner - boiled local roots):
And, of corse, gorgeous landscapes:
I appreciate any adequate critique and upvotes. Follow me to see other photo and video content made with camera, hands, and desire to make an art.
looks like a little journey! Beautiful woman and landscapes
we spent two days at a mountain slope, and I finally know how my favorite beverage is produced ;-)
Great photos. Really good!!!!! Thank you for sharing.
You are part of my "Food by Redfish" post.
Amazing. I had a chance to spend a day in a plantation in Bali, that was worked by a poor family. I have made a personal donation for their kids to buy books, as most of those guys are so poor having in mind the multi billion industry they are working for.. which is a shame. Almost was about to make a decision to quit drinking coffee after that. But it is a strong drug...
You're absolutely right. That's one of the issues we wanted to highlight and why I did that job for free.
Nice gesture and amazing resulting post. Now let's have some coffee :)
