First time out filming in 2.7 k Resolution! And it was windy as F**K!
In this camera mode on my new Gopro Hero 5 Sessions - 2.7 THOUSAND lines of resolution!.. which is less than 4k, but nevermind.
In general I stay away from the 4k format unless I really need it, meaning I shooting a gig and someone is paying for the extra pain in my ass that 4k footage represents.
I felt though that maybe 2.7k is a happy medium.
Though this new format did slow my laptop down, the edit wasn't too much more difficult than I experience with regular HD footage.
The camera does limit you when using this resolution to a 48 frames per second frame rate. Normally I would shoot in 60 frames per second to optimize what can be rather blurry footage. Perhaps the 48 fps is sufficient, or perhaps the extra resolution helped clarify the image.
Another draw-back of shooting in 2.7k @ 48 fps is that you are limited to the lens's standard Medium setting, locking you out of the more popular "superview."
Thanks for watching my flightlog video. If you like that one and would like to see more!
