Salmon milk cap (Lactarius salmonicolor)

in #photographylast month

Good day dear community, I hope you are all doing well and you have a week which has brought some interesting experiences into your life! In this article I would like to go into nature and introduce a mushroom and I am happy if you can learn new things.

This mushroom is also known as Salmon milk cap or scientifically Lactarius salmonicolor and the name is also associated with the color of a salmon and one of the typical characteristics is when it is cut, an orange-colored milk is visible which changes color within a few minutes. When the milk runs out, it is still orange at the beginning and after about 10 to 20 minutes it becomes darker and darker and after a few hours, it will have taken on a brown or red appearance and the smell of the mushroom is rather neutral and the taste can also be described as reactively mild. The color of the mushroom also changes over time and while younger specimens have a stronger color, they change with age and the lamellae on the underside usually have a similar color to the hat and are relatively easy to recognize. It is an edible mushroom which is relatively widespread and the places of discovery are in Europe as well as some parts of Africa where it can be found mainly near firs with which the fungus goes into symbiosis to exchange nutrients and typical is also that it can be found on soils which are rich in lime. The best time to go on a search is from the end of summer and the season drags until autumn, but this can of course always vary according to the location where the fungus grows and is strongly dependent on the current weather and under certain circumstances, it can also be that the Salmon milk cap can also be found in other months. Often it is also found at certain heights in alpine regions and it is a relatively common fungus which can also be relevant from a medical point of view and can be used particularly well against inflammation or to stabilize the immune system and as always I would like to mention here that in case of illness the doctor should always be consulted to ask for the right medicine! Even if the mushroom itself is relatively easy to recognize, you should always have a critical eye when searching and if you are not sure whether it is the desired mushroom, always seek additional advice or simply leave the mushroom!

I knew about mushroom earlier, today I got to know more through your post. Very nice post, thanks

Thanks for stopping by and the kind words :)

I want to eat the mushroom after seeing it. It is very beautiful and eat it as it boosts immunity. Very good post

Great that I could motivate you to deal with the topic in more detail dear @momins

To be honest, well I always am, mushrooms don't really catch my attention, in fact I have some respect for them, when I comment my friend @galberto I tell him the same thing, I'll buy them at the supermarket.
You make me laugh when you say that I answer the same and it's true hahaha, sorry.
I wish you a happy weekend

Yes do not worry my friend it is great to see a beautiful fungi like this, this is so great.

I wish you too and I respect your opinion very much :)

Greetings, this type of mushroom is very common in my region but I was unaware of its medicinal attributes, excellent, good contribution

Glad to hear, but you have to be quite sure if it’s really this mushroom :) Thanks for the feedback!

Every time I read your posts, I learn something new about mushrooms. There are many other things in nature, which I do not know anything about.

Happy to hear that you were able to learn something new @mdkironkhna
