Hey everyone, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new contribution and hope you had a weekend which has brought many interesting experiences into your life! In my new article I would like to introduce a mushroom in more detail and it motivates me if you are able to expand your knowledge.
Recently I had the opportunity to photograph this Winter chanterelle which is also known under the scientific name Craterellus tubaeformis and it‘s an edible mushroom that can be found between autumn and winter. When exactly the fungus can be found depends entirely on the region as well as the climate that prevails there and under certain conditions, it can be found earlier and it‘s a rather more common fungus which can typically be found in leaves and coniferous forests. There are different possibilities for use and in addition to consumption in the cooked state, it may also make sense to freeze or dry the mushroom and if you want to make sure that the aroma remains or unfolds even more, you should make sure to dry it gently because valuable ingredients are often lost by a fast drying process. Where exactly the Winter chanterelle has its origin is not clear, but nowadays it can be found mainly in Europe, Asia or some parts of America and it has developed into a culinary delicacy that convinces with its special taste and is also related to the common chanterelle. It is a small and inconspicuous fungus which can be recognized by the typical gray or yellow color and the stem is hollow inside as well as yellow outside and it's an important symbiosis fungus which interacts with other organisms of the forest to exchange nutrients. The top of the hat is somewhat reminiscent of a funnel and from the difficulty of collecting it can be classified as easy because it is easy to recognize and there are only a few mushrooms with which it can be confused but you should always be skeptical when collecting and if someone does not know a mushroom, leave it or get additional advice!
