I am so excited to finally be able to share this with you – photo from my first photoshoot, featuring a good friend of mine. I am also going to talk about how I invited her to be my model for this shoot.
Her name is Xuan Bei. I met her in the university as we did the same course for our degree. We actually studied in the same college back in our home country but funnily enough, we did not know each other until then. Long before I knew her, I always thought she was a very quiet and shy girl. At some point, she even admitted it. There was once during my visit to her house, she opened up and shared her personal experience with me, and that’s how I realized how forgiving and wonderful her personality is. It was only after the visit that we became closer friends.
I have always been wanting to do a proper photoshoot with a model. As cliché as it sounds, the very first idea came to my mind while I was in my dream. I saw and could only remember blurry images from that dream. However, for me, that is more than enough. I know for sure I am going to do my first shoot at a beach and I began brainstorming for a story for my shoot. The story reminded me of Xuan Bei. This is because she has talked to me before about her relationship with her boyfriend. She mentioned that their relationship has long begun while they were still in high school and they are now stepping into their 8th year. At that moment, I was amazed by how stable their relationship is. I thought to myself: “I only want her to be my model for this shoot as no one else I know quite fit the character in my story.” Therefore, I immediately contacted her and asked if she could be my model for the shoot. Out of my surprise, she said YES! I am delighted! I always thought she was a very very shy and timid girl, her prompt reply really surprised me.
There goes my first experience of inviting my friend to become a model for my photoshoot.
Just my random thoughts
No matter what kind of situation you are in right now, if there is something in your mind that you know you want to do, never question your capability to do it! A dream only stays as a dream if no action is taken. If you want to be a photographer, just become one. Like myself, I am the kind of person when have a new idea in mind, I know I have to implement it before I get overwhelmed by too much information that might potentially drown my idea and my confidence. Never be afraid to challenge yourself. Even if there’s only 1% chance of success, it is still better than 0% of effort.

Very nice result. Not only "for the first time", it's an eye catching photo even without the whole story :D
But the story reminded me my first time. I asked my friend for photoshoot, and to my surprise - she agreed. Probably if she did not agree, I would be somewhere else with my photography now ;-)
But after that I heard "no" too many times to count it. Even if my skills are WAAAAY better than in the very beginning. So prepare for beeing refused ;-)

Haha I am all prepared to hear rejections and criticisms. But still, I want to keep shooting because it is my passion. I might not be good now, but after 5 years the story will be different.
