As you know I mentioned that I am a photographer and I love cosplay! I thought before I post any of my other work , it would be fun to post my first ever cosplay photoshoot which started the whole process. The model's name is Jolanta Plonskonka and she made the whole costume herself (╯✧∇✧)╯
I also love anything beauty related so I did the make up to suit this look. For cosplay photoshoots its always best to tell the makeup artist to enlarge the eyes as much as possible as that's what anime is about ~ big eyes. So using colored circle lenses with a diameter of 15-16mm makes a huge difference. Some eye liner at the top and the bottom , glitter in the corner of the eye , a bit of tint on the lips and the look is done! Of course it took around 40 mins to do so it's not that easy (ﾉ･ｪ･)ﾉ
It was actually myself who contacted Jolanta to do the photoshoot as she's cosplaying a character from an anime that I used to like in my childhood called Inuyasha. It's very old , from 2000's and the story is set in Sengoku period(1467 – c. 1603) which is when there was conflict and political intrigue in Japan. The name of the character is Kikyo and she's a priestess of that period that is sworn to protect a crystal that can make any demon(yes its all fantasy however some of the folklore is real) stronger.
Of course before I worked with Jolanta I had to have knowledge on the character and the setting to create a world in my images resembling that of the anime. I had to think about the location , the poses, the expressions and who Kikyo is. Kikyo had to be brought to life in the real world.
The editing process was the toughest to do as I had to create my own touch to the images , so that when people like at them they know it was me that has done them. I purposely changed the colors to look less realistic to resemble an anime and had to make sure that they weren't over-saturated. Kikyo's color is red so I wanted to have the red pop out as much as possible. The color partner of red in the color wheel is green however I didn't like the look of it so I chose blue instead. I used Lightroom to change all the colors and then Photoshop to edit out loose strings in the costume , any make up smudges and any annoying background problem areas.
It was so easy to work with Jolanta as she had all the props, the character knowledge and the drive for this photoshoot and I think that is what the most important traits are when working with cosplayers.
From that day on cosplay became my passion and I am aiming to be known as the photographer-to-go-to in Ireland for cosplay (۶ꈨຶꎁꈨຶ )۶ʸᵉᵃʰᵎ

Its actually a very nice photoshoot, I've seen a lot of cosplayer photos and let me tell you this right here is good work . It can be improved , like for example making a better angle on the action photos, when she opens her "fan", her hair looks odd.
