"Twins: two unique souls united by birth."

- Author: Unknown

Hi Gang!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Today I want to share some of my most recent work which I am very happy with. The girls are Margo and Nika who are twins. We all work in the same place and I asked if they would be interested in a photoshoot with me. It was always my dream to capture two twins!

The girls are natural, they are confident and there is a great atmosphere between the two as they are very close. The concept was simple, have the two of them dress alike and pose together. It was the posing part however that was quite tricky.

As someone who works primarily as a portrait photographer with prior modelling experience, I was able to pose the girls however it was combining the two of them posing that proved difficult. The posing had to be done in a tasteful way as the girls are only 17 years old and to make sure that both of them look natural and comfortable.

We decided to do the shoot on a Monday as we all were free at that time and we had another girl from work who wants to be a makeup artist do the girls makeup. You can see Kate's work Here.

Kate is a very talented creative who also enjoys photography and she did fantastic work on the twins as natural makeup can be hard to create if not done right. We scouted a park location that I occasionally shoot in and Kate did the girls make up on a quiet bench that we found away from people.

It was a sunny day and while Kate was doing the makeup on each of the twins, I took both of them aside to explain how to pose and what to expect when we start shooting as neither of them have any experience. They were tense at first but when put together both suddenly lit up and started adding different ideas and poses to try out.

What I love about working with the new models is how they transform from being tense to very confident in a matter of minutes. It can be a liberating feeling not caring about the surroundings and just simply doing what is needed for the shots. The day was very warm so the park was packed and there were many glances going our way however once we found a quiet spot, the girls began to flourish.

To do this set, I used my regular 50mm 1.8 lens with my Nikon D700 camera. It's compact sized and perfect for portrait shots however can be used for full body shots as well. I had to use my reflector to add light to the girl's faces as there were too many shadows due to the harshness of the sun!

As always my editing processes consisted of editing the lights in Lightroom and then doing skin retouching and other adjustments in Photoshop. That is all I will add for now, I hope you enjoy all the photos below. At the end you will also see some fun backstage shots from the same day.

🌺 Backstage shots 🌺

As I mentioned I will be posting some backstage shots, some of which were quite nice to edit professionally however I was already over the limit of what I was going to provide to the girls in regards to editing so I simply added a filter on these.

First I would like to show our beautiful make up artist Kate! She was a fantastic addition to the team and did her very best with the makeup. Kate was looking after the girls for the majority of the shoot time.
