Hey, whats up fellow Steemians?
Today I recieved a good deal of fresh snow, after being denied a white christmas due to rising temperature in the week leading up to the 24th. And let me tell you, I love the winter. Here are a few reasons why and as a little treat, I will flavor everything with a few photographs from one of my walks around my town.
Before we start, just let me say, that all this Photos were taken in the Harz(a mountainish region in Germany)
Snow looks much prettier than asphalt!
On this shot with a poor perspective, you see the largest wooden church in Germany
As you can see does the blue of this particular building makes a nice contrast to the white ground. On other days all that buitifull colors are overshadowed by grey stone or asphalt. I know, I know, many cities don't have much colors to their facades, but if they do, my brain usually doesn't notice it, becuase it just becomes background noise to the all present grey.
The world seems to become a quieter place
Even after a few days I'm the first person to walk this nice path through the woods ^^
I guess, that I'm not the only one, who on occasion starts mumbeling his thoughts out loud, just to better concentrate on them. People would nevertheless look at you strange in public. Usually I avoid this problem, by making my round in the deepest night, wandering the streets, talking to myself, while sorting my thoughts(Okay maybe I'm a little weird). But if it is cold outside people like it to stay indoors and drink hot tea and what not, so I for once get to enjoy the sun, while wandering the streets undisturbed by traffic of any sorts.
There are no bugs
This little creek is actually part of the "Upper Harz Water Regale", a remnant of the local mining operations
As you already could see, I live in the middle of a wooded area, but we also have a number of creeks and ponds. But if you ever lived near water, you now that this means nematocera or midge or mosquito(LOTS AND LOTS OF THEM). As an result I end my walks in the summer regulary being coverd in bugs, after having to constantly get rid of them, robbing me of the ability to enjoy the walk itself. Since spring is also relative bug-free it is my second dearest time of the year, but that is a topic for another time...Read: When I get a few nice spring shots, which is hard while we still are in the middle of winter here ^^
Heat is just so much more stressful than the cold.
Nothing much to say here. Just a shot into the woods
Call me a snob, but I cannot really enjoy the heat. Although I'm born in the summer, I could never really put up with the heat and would spend my days in the shadows, trying not to move and feeling sleppy all the time. And while I can appreciate a good nap from time to time, at some point I just feel the need to do something, while also just shudder at the thought of activity for fear of melting. ^^ Cold on the other hand, I can put up really good. Just give me a nice jacket, some extra stuffing for my pants and I could spend all day outside. Maybe all those nights outside, really prepared my body for those situations, maybe it is just the fact, that the weather of my current town and my hometown always is kinda shitty and cold. We may never know.
Conclusion
Well that's it for today. I hoped you enjoyed reading this piece as much as I liked to write it and share a little bit about me. And now for some finishing touche the last presentable pictures from this particular outside trip.
Sadly there is no nice high point outside the streets to give a better impression of the mountains
Well back in town. This picture once again underlines my point about pretty snow, becuase this is usually a boring green field, then we now got a nice red-brown/white contrast ^^
If you liked this, feel free to leave a comment, like it and resteem it. I'm just starting out and want to figure out, what I should present in my blog. ^^
Okay. One more random picture.
Have a nice day and see you next time!

Just be careful behind that church there are always cops hiding. I know you aren't driving but last wednesday they got me snowdrifting in the streets. All my fault but why has this to be that much fun. I couldn't hold myself back.
