Arc de Triomphe Paris - Architectural Photography

The Arc de Triomphe in Paris as photographed from directly underneath. I love these kinds of old structures. They are so impressive. When you think about the amount of effort that had to go into building something like this back when they built it, the grandness and scale of it becomes all the more impressive.

You can also climb to the top and get an amazing view as all the main road arteries in paris converge on this place in a huge roundabout like the beating heart of the city. It makes for pretty amazing photos form the top. Unfortunately though they do not permit tripods up there so i got a couple of handheld shots (we went after dark) which turned out predictably bad. Next time I go I will ensure that I bring a gorillapod or something, as they are far more discreet and probably wont annoy the staff there.
