Fresh Off the RP (Original Photography)

in #photography5 years ago

Figuring out a new camera can be a bit of a learning curve, especially when one hasn't upgraded in a decade or so. While the basics (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) stay the same, learning where all the buttons are and what they do does take a little time.

While looking for a subject to practice on at the state park, I ran into this raccoon. For awhile, we just watched each other. I had the wrong lens for the job, anyway. Eventually, I left and came back with a tele lens and was surprised he had waited for the photo! No longer on the ground, he had climbed to the perfect little branch and was posing. What a good sport!

Oh please leave your cooler unprotected...

The detail was pretty spectacular, when I got it back to the computer. Click on the title to see the larger resolution image. The original file is actually four times that size and the eyes are in perfect focus. That would not have been likely with the old 7D.

Repelling Isn't Easy!

This little critter was hanging from a thread of silk and blowing in the breeze. That's not an easy target for any camera, but patience and planning paid off eventually.

He huffed. He puffed...

The next photo doesn't really fit with the others, but that's alright. I went to see if this old barn was still standing. Over the last few years, I've paid it occasional visits and watched its continued decline. It was a surprise to see it still standing this spring.

Other than the new camera, there has only been an increasing work load. Last week I ended up pulling some overtime and that may only increase as the month goes on. Everything that got delayed when COVID-19 hit has become an avalanche of things that must be done right now.

Friday is coming...

Love the photo of the barn! Good luck with all of your work! Hopefully you can enjoy the weekend!

Thanks! I'm surprised the weight of the snow didn't crush that barn last winter, given its condition.

Hey you are having some great photos, worth checking your blog regularly...
