Hi Friends... Today I am introducing you all to this beautiful flowering tree called Parijat or Har Singar in Hindi...
It's called Coral Jasmine or Queen of Night in English. Sheuli or Shiuli in Bengali and Pavia Malli in Tamil. But mainly we call it Parijat or Parijatha in Sanskrit, Hindi, Kannada Marathi and Malayalam languages...

When I referred Google, I found that it belongs to the Oleaceae family and it's Botanical name is - Nictanthes Arbor-Tristis... :)

This is a small sized tree, bearing beautiful, small and scented flowers. These flowers are white in color with an orange colored stem. Can be made a Garland, using a thread and needle... The flowers are very tender and has got a short life. It blooms just after Sunset and falls before Sunrise on the next morning!! It starts blooming mainly after the first rains in the month of May or June here. As most of the flowers fall by morning, it creates a look of beautiful flower-bed on the place beneath the tree, which is really a cool picture for the eyes.

We can see a mention of this tree in all the stories related to Lord Sri Krishna...

Now let's talk a bit about it's Goodness!

Yes, my dear Friends... The whole tree is useful right from the flower to roots!

Extracts of the seeds, flowers and leaves possess immunostimulant, hepatoprotective, antileishmanial, antiviral and antifungal properties!!

Hence the leaves and flowers are used in the making of several Ayurvedic and Homeopathic medicines, for Fever, Sciatica, Arthritis etc...

Here are some more pics.

Lovely photos and information ma'am! These flowers remind me of the movie October where the female protagonist was also named Shiuli.

As a child, I used to collect it's flowers and used to make garlands.
