Wonders of the Venezuelan mountains

These photographs that I share, were taken by my person @gretserorellana in 2010 and represent a rather curious species of plant diversity of Venezuela. This is the case of a frailejón, a plant associated with a mountainous ecosystem called "páramo".

The species in question is called Ruilopezia jaboniensis and is endemic to the páramos of Trujillo and Lara states of Venezuela.

The images show the adaptations that this plant has to a climate of low temperatures such as: leaves covered with dense fur, succulent leaves, growth in the form of a rosette, showy flowers to attract the few pollinating animals.

I also include some photographs taken with the magnifying glass and the optical microscope.
