Hotel lobby

You could seem really ordinary but at the bar in a hotel lobby you’re spectacular. Truth be told nothing you do will ever be ordinary. The way you manipulate this dimension into a low definition soap opera is alchemical. I’m addressing the ceiling, the carpet, your wristwatch when we converse. eye contact is out of the question. Your cologne OD fails to cover up the noxious fumes of impatience and latent rage leaking from our crocodile smiles. I like you for the same reason I romanticize the 80s- novelty and false glamour. You told me the 80s weren’t that great, everyone was just waiting to get bombed by Russia. To this I shrugged and said it’s the same with my generation and North Korea. ignoring dark undertones by keeping it light and playing pretend is thematic. If I stray from the script you get squirrelly. illusion of control gives me such a rush. Like lies, fantasies become more convincing through repetition. crashing back down to reality is nauseating and sad. It often comes out of nowhere and hits me like a bus. I can’t hang around you too long or I’ll get stuck.
