Heartbreak Series: The Mad Hatter

in #photography7 years ago

This piece is for everyone who has countless masks on their face just to fool the world. You are very brave to have accumulated those and for endlessly trying to pick yourself up despite being broken. Love is painfully beautiful and I wish you'd find someone who will love your masks as much as you work hard making them.

I took off my first mask,
And bared my vulnerabilities.
I dropped the second mask,
And lowered my defenses.
I stripped every wall there was in me
All my weaknesses I've made you see.
You simply sat and clincked your cup
You simply smiled, it made me thought,
Maybe,
Just maybe,
This mad hatter will be enough.

The tea time went by in silence
Our silhoutte slowly fading
Thoughts in convergence.
And when the sun slowly sets,
You stood and smiled,
A smile so sweet, so vile yet divine.
You placed the cup down,
Turned around,
Leaving me behind.
You left so suddenly,
Without saying goodbye
You never even heard my cry.

Devoured by darkness,
I threw my hat
And picked up the second mask,
Building my defenses.
Picked up the first mask,
And clothed my senses.

You see the hatter was not mad at all
She was broken, shattered and pained
When she took the fall.
Things are not always as they seem,
Truth concealed behind the masks' gleam.
The tea time was over,
Her clock stopped ticking.
The hatter patiently waited,
Masks on and standing.

who is that in picture? ^^

and nice writing :)

what a many masks
is it related with social soceity?

That's actually me in the picture ^^
And this poem is about getting hurt and gaining personalities (masks) so you can be braver.
I actually wrote this when a friend of mine suffered from a heartbreak :)

You are right, people often wear masks because they do not trust the outside world. They are afraid that they will be rejected. Only sometimes it becomes scary that behind all these masks we can lose our true "I". But this is my opinion and my experience. We all wear masks until we meet the "second half" on the way! One who accepts us the way we really are, and then the need for a mask disappears by itself ...

This is really good! Keep it up! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much ^_^
