Photo Journey Through Arizona Ep.8- Goldfield Ghost Town and Mine (Apache Junction, AZ)

A short trip to the east of Phoenix there is a city known as Apache Junction. On the outskirts of this city lies the rebuilt ghost town of Goldfield.

There are plenty of things to do and see while you are here.

It was originally established just before the 1900's, when Arizona was still the wild west.

On the way in you can see some of the old relics of the past. Mining carts and equipment are placed around the area.

Travelers beware! There are still plenty of hazards in this modern day era.

The entire town is basically one main strip that was build around the nearby mine.

You can see the beautiful Superstition Mountains in the background, which really gives that iconic western look.

The water tower in the middle of town has a "leak" that you can use to wash up.

Meet me at the water tower at high noon partner, unless you're YELLER!

Much of the town resembles a movie set with props that were strategically placed around the main area.

Old style bank where I can only presume you get your money in giant bags with the $ symbol on the side.

Don't wanna get in trouble with the Sheriff otherwise you'll be spending the night in this shack.

Modern water treatment facilities are hidden away behind historic buildings.

They even had their own bordello so the working men could "hang up their boots".

They even have a church for all the sinners. When you're done you can check out the shooting gallery behind it.

The view as it looked over 100 years ago.

Superstition Mountains, a sacred place where Native Americans performed rituals and ceremonies.

At the end of town there is an old firetruck.

The weather was perfect for pictures today :)

Rusty mining carts that were used a century ago in the nearby mine.

I love little ghost towns.

There are tons of them to see in Arizona. I will probably be posting plenty more in the future.

I been to a few of them in Arizona and in Califoria

I love Apache Junction. The history and spooky lore of the Superstition Mountains is as entertaining as the scenes are beautiful. Here’s one of my pictures, taken when we drove our truck down to pick up the travel trailer we bought there~

Great pictures of Goldfield and the area. Happy to see you’re enjoying the attractions around your new location. ✌️

Oh nice! I am enjoying the accessibility of everything. Much easier to go around and see the sights around the valley since everything is just a short drive away.

Those are some really cool pictures. I had a blast in the Mojave Desert in California, but I wish I had seen a ghost town like this! Definitely adding this to the list of future places to visit.

It was not bad for a quick stop and a few pictures. Definitely a tourist trap with high prices though! All of these little spots in the desert are like that.
