In the late dry season, the landscape of Semau Island becomes so dry and arid. Trees shed their leaves, the grasses turn yellow before they dry, the animals disappear for finding a more comfortable place and human set the strategy to survive.

Within this season, Semau people rely on seaweed and short term plants to earn income and meet daily needs.

Later, the wet season will bring back the green scenery and people can grow corn, paddy and vegetables again.
