A Cold Day's Walk Through Salem Cemetery Capturing A Few Images That Peaked My Interest

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Salem #Cemetery is in #downtown Winston-Salem, North Carolina right outside of #Historical Old Salem.

This cemetery is said to be #haunted. Those that venture here have said they see shadowy figures at night. Not surprising since some of the most prominent people from this area are buried there such as #Tobacco Tycoon R.J. Reynolds and his family members. Along with areas dedicated to slaves.

I was visiting this area and just wanted to share a few shots I took. They were in color, but I really wanted to go with more black, white and gray to capture the energy I felt when walking through this cemetery.

In 1901, Pleasant H. Hanes formed P.H. Hanes Knitting Co. Anyone remember their famous advertising slogan "Just wait'll we get our Hanes on you."?

One of the quality packed blog I've seen in steemit today, informative facts and creepy backstories are always an interesting read. I thought the decision to do black and white was a superb choice.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I really appreciate it. The vibe definitely called for black and white. 🙏😊

Talk about an awesome day! These are incredible photos! You seem to have a hidden talent in the photo arena. These photos could be featured on any major website in the world. The way you captured the perfect light to dark ratio and the surroundings to almost the perfect object verses nearfield orientation was outstanding. The essence of fear and or simply being spooky can be felt within the interdimensional aspects of your photos. Please keep the awesome posts coming! Thank You for sharing.

These are lovely! Thank you for taking us on this walk with you. <3

Thank you and you're welcome. I wanted to take more, but it was just too cold.

Oh goodness... I understand it being too cold. At least you got out there and got some sun- That makes the excursion is a total success! <3 :)

Awesome pictures, cemeteries are such great locations. Thanks for the content 2DIE4 :)

Thank you! I have always been drawn to cemeteries. Reading the headstones and picking up on all of the different types of energies. Ha! I love the 2DIE4.

So glad that I discovered you. I love visiting cemeteries, too, and imagining the stories of those whose earthly remains have been laid to rest beneath the soil there.

Choosing to share these photos as B&Ws is an excellent decision on your part.

Glad to have discovered you. I'm sure that we'll be visiting here often...

One final thing before I close...A song has just popped into my head, so I'm going to share it here...

Thank you very much. I love the song too. Very nice to meet you, and I look forward to our future shares with one another. x

Beautifully photographed! I have lived in a couple of homes that we shared with a ghost. I tend to be more afraid of humans than I am of spirits. :P

Thank you! Ha! I am not afraid either. I have had my own share of experiences. I have found that fear is how spirits and humans get the best of you. Let them know you aren't afraid and you can have a good chuckle with them. x

I actually think one of them was a young child or a young girl. It was very playful in the things it did. I never was able to find out, although I did suspect they were more attached to the property rather than the house.

Interesting. I can see that about the land over the home. I hear that a lot actually.

In my city of Khabarovsk, the ancient cemetery of the founders of the city was destroyed during the battles in the civil war at the beginning of the XX century. The remaining cemetery in this place in the fifties of the twentieth century was demolished under a bulldozer - the communist government preached scientific atheism.

Well, practically in the years of Soviet power, the city probably destroyed more than 10 different burial sites.

I can not imagine how many spirits wander in my city((

That is such a horrific tragedy. I have thought about this myself quite often. With the Governments claiming land as their own, knowing nothing is sacred to them, we have to take that into consideration on how we want our process to be. Thank you for sharing. x
